Top 3 Things to do on the Big Island
- Ride a Helicopter on Paradise
(Paradise Helicopters)
Explore paradise on the Hawaii helicopter adventure of a lifetime. Paradise Helicopters are the experts in offering an exciting, well-planned, and safe Hawaii helicopter experience. See breathtaking waterfalls, active volcanoes, panoramic coastlines and wondrous mountain ranges on one of the best heli tours Hawaii has to offer.
- Snorkel/Sailing Trip
(Kamanu Charters)
Get in the water and experience Kona's spectacular underwater beauty. Pawai Bay has an excellent variety of tropical reef fish and dramatic terrain, with ledges, caves, shallow shelves and steep drop-offs, and coral encrusted lava formations.
Soak in the sun and watch the ocean waves as you gaze through the net into the deep blue. Relax in the shaded open air cabin area and "talk story" with the captain and first mate. The peace and serenity of real sailing is one of the reasons you're coming to Hawaii, right? Kick back, stretch out, and enjoy the calm protected waters that we sail over.
- Guided Hike
(Hawaiian Walkways)
See the beautiful Island of Hawaii with the experts. Hawaiian Walkways has been operating since 1984, and are the original hiking tour company on the Big Island. We take pride in our interpretive hikes, the beautiful trails we manage and access, and our excellent customer service! We want you to come away from your day-hike with your senses satiated and your thirst for learning and discovering new things about Hawaii thoroughly quenched.

Experience Paradise: New Tour!
Paradise is pleased to offer a new tour to the line-up of extensive tours. Your adventure begins in our Bell 407 helicopter ascending the slopes of Hualalai, between Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea. There, you will witness Kilauea's current activity and the magnitude and splendor of the home of Pele, the Hawaiian volcano goddess.
Then, we will touch down at a remote location where you will have the rare opportunity to skirt the rim of the Island's largest and best-loved valley. A private, historic trail takes you to places where you can safely view the ocean and the valley floor over 1,000 feet below. Crucial times in Hawai'i's past unfolds in the scenery at your feet. Your imagination will come alive as the guide's narration blends with the spectacular surroundings to erase the bounds of time.

The hiking will be dynamic as you wander through rainforest and fields, across foot bridges over streams, and by waterfalls and pools (bring your suit and towel). The setting is unmatched anywhere.
During your van ride home, you will participate in a narrated tour through Hawai'i's historic Parker Ranch and the picturesque Kohala Coast.
What's included:
- 1.5 hour helicopter ride and moderate/gradual 3.5 mile hike
- light packs
- walking sticks
- rain gear
- lunch and beverages
- guide services including engaging and accurate information about the lands and people of Hawai'i

Oahu's New Marketing Manager
Sarah Restle says, "I grew up in Toledo, Ohio, where my family still lives. I graduated from the University of Dayton, married my husband, Joe, and we relocated to Puerto Rico for his job in the Coast Guard. Three years later, we moved to Hilo and I started working for Paradise. It was sad to leave, but we had to move to North Carolina. I worked at the Comfort Suites hotel as the General Manager and then for TSA at the Wilmington Airport. Now we are back on Oahu, living on the windward side with our dog, Coqui. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, scuba diving and cooking. Our goal is to hike the Kalalau trail again on Kauai. I am excited to be back in Hawaii and working for Paradise Helicopters!"
Thanks Sarah! We are happy to have you part of our team!

Chenielle Quiacusan writes: After 10 years, I feel very fortunate in saying, "I still love my job and am excited about the opportunities the helicopter and tourism industries provide." It's easy to sell tours when you take pride in the services being offered and in our beautiful Hawaiian Islands. Owners Cal and Stacey Dorn have always promoted a family environment and that has made it possible for me to juggle work and raise two beautiful daughters. Being able to expand on an exciting career in aviation has been fabulous and I hope to use the knowledge I've gained to better our corporation. I think I'll always be involved with helicopters in some way, it was my first job after high school and how I met my husband in 1997. Both were a match made in heaven.

Pilot Profile: George Nischan
I was born in Bremerhaven, Germany where my father was stationed. We soon moved to Chicago where I spent my childhood. My father was transferred to San Antonio, Texas when I was a senior in High School. After graduation, I joined the Army with no ambitions, but it gave me the discipline I needed to realize the opportunities available to me in this big world. I soon set my eyes on helicopter flight training, applied for and was accepted to flight school in 1981. I served in the Grenada invasion, the Panama conflict, and then Desert Storm. I left the Army after 22 years service with my last assignment in Anchorage and went to work in Central and South America for the State Department. The focus of my work was antinarcotics. In 2000, I returned to the US and began working in Hawai'i. I have been flying for 27 years and still enjoy it as much as I did when I began. I have four beautiful grown children and three grandchildren. I look forward to many more years of flying here in Hawai'i and to make some exciting memories for those who fly with me.

Another New Addition to the Fleet
Paradise Helicopters is proud to announce the arrival of our newest helicopter: the Hughes 530.
Very similar to the Hughes 500 it offers more power, stronger lifting capabilities, higher gross weight and more stability.
We are proud to fly the only tour using 500 and 530 helicopters on the Big Island. This helicopter offers many features for our guests that are unmatched by any other aircraft. Offering all-window seats, our Doors Off flights is our most requested tour by our clients.
We've Got Mail!
"I have to thank you and your amazing staff for the warm reception my girlfriend and I received on Saturday morning. We were completely blown away by your generosity and the breathtaking experience with Victor over the Volcano and stunning coastline. Danielle and I can not thank you enough and we look forward to seeing you both in the restaurant soon. All the best!"
-Michael from Boston Basils
Thanks Michelle for persuading us to get out of our "comfort zone". By taking your suggestions, we experienced all of Kona, which resulted in a vacation we will always remember.
What we found unusual about the entire trip, wasn't the tours themselves, but how the people who were our guides made the tours so extraordinary. We enjoyed Koji. He made the helicopter trip so special. His dialog was very informative and made us think we were his family and he was giving us a VIP excursion. His special attention to make everyone feel safe and not stupid (especially me, since I am very afraid of heights) did not go unnoticed. I particularly liked how he advised us ahead of time of his turns and altitude changes. A trip that I had dreaded turned into a great memory for me and a favorite for James.

Letter From Our President
Tourism in Hawai'i has been very unpredictable this year and the industry is adjusting to fit the changes in our economy. The term "staycation" is being heavily advertised and we have been pleased to see an increase in the number of locals who have flown with us this summer. Living in Paradise, it's nice to remind ourselves the value of what our Islands have to offer.
We have recently partnered with Hawaiian Walkways; giving customers the option of combining a helicopter tour with a guided hike through Waipi'o Valley. We continue to assist in the rebuilding of the Kohala ditch and strive to find new ways to partner with and support other local businesses.
Even with the recent decline in visitors to Hawai'i, our sales team has been able to maintain a steady flow of business, which we attribute to the unique products we offer and our flexible booking style.
Being in business 10 years, we try to anticipate and prepare for the next adventure. But we are still often surprised by the unexpected and we come away from each day with new questions and answers. We invite you to stay tuned for what's ahead as we work on new and exciting tours and continue to provide customers with an experience of a lifetime.
