A wall collapse this morning created magnificent spatter in Pu’u ‘O’o’s always fascinating lava lake, and many surface flows persist above and below the Pali… but the best outbreak was on the coastal flats about halfway between the Pali and the road. The lava delta at Kamokuna is now nearly seven acres large, and has two radial cracks that stretch from side to side, making it even more precarious! Extraordinary Paradise pilot Sean Regehr floated Leilani the Hula Girl, Honest Abe Ducky, Bruce Omori, Special Emily and me over the majesty of the Goddess Pele! Amazingly, the bench at the ocean entry of Kamokuna is still intact… in spite of its enormous cracks. We’re still working on our new “VolcanoScapes” series entitled “Hot Seat Hawaii!” Stay tuned for exciting well-known guests, engaging visits with interesting Big Island personalities… and of course, as always, the best Kilauea Volcano lava video anywhere! Coming soon! You never know who might show up in “the hot seat” next! #HotSeatHawaii
