A crystal clear day on the 61G lava flow field revealed new surface lava activity in the last substantial kipuka of trees just above the Pali. Several streams of pahoehoe, ending in a’a on the Pali itself… and a magnificent flow upslope kept us busy this morning. And we were able to access Pu’u ‘O’o’s lava lake, albeit briefly, as nasty fumes chased us away. Kudos to Paradise Helicopters’ extraordinary pilot, Sean Regehr… Leilani the Hula Girl, Valentine’s Day Ducky, and Special Guest, Victoria Gu. What an overflight! And don’t forget… we’ll have lots of interesting personalities on the upcoming “VolcanoScapes” series entitled “Hot Seat Hawaii!” Check out our new website hotseathawaii.com and meet the cast. Then stay tuned for exciting well-known guests, engaging visits with interesting Big Island folks… and of course, as always, the best Kilauea Volcano aerial lava stills and video anywhere! Coming soon! #HotSeatHawaii.Who will be next in the “hot seat?!?”
If you want to feel the awesome heat of the volcano and take some incredible photos – don’t forget to add our “doors off” option to your tour for an incredible, once-in-a-lifetime experience.
