Celebrating Kilauea’s 35th Anniversary of the Current Eruption! Under wonderfully colorful skies, the lava lake at the Pu’u ‘O’o vent was extremely active this morning. Numerous fantastic ropey pahoehoe flows were discovered within a mile of the vent…. you will be amazed at the volume of lava pouring down the side of an old a/a flow! No other surface activity was visible directly on, or below the Pali. Paradise Helicopters’ master pilot Rob Mitchell stealthily guided us to Pele’s fire… mahalo Rob! Mermaid Ducky took a break from the water to join LeilanI, Special Guest Jacob Straube, Bruce Omori and me for our first flight of the New Year… and oh, what a lava overflight it was! Happy Birthday, Kilauea!

If you want to feel the awesome heat of the volcano and take some incredible photos – don’t forget to add our “doors off” option to your tour for an incredible, once-in-a-lifetime experience.
